Informal assessments are not data driven but rather content and performance driven. Informal assessments sometimes referred to as criterion referenced measures or performance based measures, should be used to inform instruction.
What is Criterion-Referenced Test?
Student performance is measured against a set of established criteria or learning standards, which are brief, written statements of what students are expected to know and be able to do at a certain stage of their education. Criterion-referenced assessments are used in elementary and secondary schools to determine whether pupils have studied a given body of knowledge or gained a specific skill set.
